Charity fundraiser for orphans in Nepal

For the last few years Terry (Tel) and Ann Mahoney, who live in our village, have raised money for an orphanage in Nepal by holding a themed music fundraising night. These nights are always great fun and we’ve had a Motown night, a punk night, a Caribbean night,  and last year a great 60s and 70s night with Mick and Keef of the Rolling Clones.

This year’s event, which happened last Saturday, was a Cowboy and Hillbilly night with music by the Doohickies – really great country and blue grass band.  As always everyone went to town dressing up for the event and, as you can see by the video that we have just made, everyone had a great night!

So far Tel and Ann have raised £2,436.00 but donations can still be made at

The HCC Concern Centre is a home for 15 children, who are orphans or half-orphans, in the peaceful area of Budanilkantha (Kathmandu, Nepal) near the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. HCC is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious social welfare organization. It was founded by Buddhiman and his wife Indrakala Pariyar in 2002 and is run by them and their children. The main objective of the organisation is to provide home and education for orphan, half-orphans, disabled and helpless children. It provides a family environment, education and extra activities (e.g. dancing, singing, sports etc.).The development and the education of the children is key to the home, but possibilities are limited due to financial difficulties.

With the help of donations, especially long term support, HCC can offer more opportunities and a better living standard for all its children. You can find out more about HCC on it’s websites and facebook page:
